Council picks up prestigious technology win in Europe.

Council News - E-Inclusion MedalMilton Keynes Council is celebrating a great win at the finals of the prestigious European
E-inclusion awards, for bringing the benefits of better health-care and new technology to the people of the city.

The council was one of 35 finalists in 7 different categories out of hundreds of entries in the e-inclusion awards from across Europe and was recognised for the excellence of its work connecting the community of Milton Keynes to the advantages of new technology.

Council News - Older people outside homeHelping older people stay in their own homes longer was just one of the strengths highlighted as 'good' in an independent annual performance report praising the work of the adult social care service.

The Commission for Social Care Inspection gave the Adult Social Care service the thumbs up in an annual review of all its services and received two stars (just one off the top rank) rating it good with 'promising' potential to improve further.

Residents in Milton Keynes can for the first time find out about and access key council services direct from their digital TVs and mobile phones.

The service offered by Milton Keynes Council can be accessed through most set top boxes that are sold with digital TV packages offered by companies such as Sky and Virgin Media as well as through some Freeview boxes with broadband connections.

Pupils spring into action to bring colour to local park

On Friday morning 2,000 white daffodils were planted by 50 pupils from Falconhurst School in Eaglestone Local Park.

For the 2nd year running the pupils and teachers joined with the Landscape Services staff from Milton Keynes Council to enjoy a morning learning how to plant the bulbs and look after the surrounding area.

Council News - Shak the virtual assistantNever late for work or off ill with a cold, perfect employees Shak and Jo are always on call with a friendly smile to answer your questions about council services.

These virtual employees (known as virtual assistants) can answer your questions 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, and Milton Keynes Council is the first local authority to use this idea on their website.

The virtual assistants are designed to improve customer care by giving instant answers while providing a human face to searching for council information on the website.

Temporary Move from Coachway

Council News - CoachwayFrom the 26th April 2008 the Coachway will move from its current location at Junction 14 whilst a new coach passenger terminal is constructed.

Long distance coach services currently calling at Junction 14 will move to a temporary location between Montrose Street and Pilgrim Street, off Silbury Boulevard in Campbell Park, where facilities will include a waiting room, café, ticket office, toilets, a shop with taxi booking facilities and approximately 60 adjacent parking spaces. The site will be well lit, have CCTV and 24 hour on-site security.
